TAKE THE CHALLENGE ON EARTH DAY! Saturday, April 22
Each year, the average American uses 167 disposable water bottles and the average American Family consumes almost 1,500 shopping bags. Only 23% of plastics get recycled in the U.S. This is a major problem for out wildlife, our oceans and our environment, so we created the #PLASTICSSWEARJAR Challenge, in an effort to start making some changes.
Starting on earth day, we will be taking the #plasticswearjar challenge for 7 days to create awareness & accountability for the single-use plastic waste we create on a daily basis.
Join the Changing Tides Foundation team and several professional action sports athletes & ambassadors for 1 day, 3 days or the full 7-day challenge!
SWEAR: for purposes of this challenge, a “swear” is each time you use or purchase a single-use plastic item.
1. Designate a container as your #plasticswearjar and decorate it so that its obvious what its for.
2. Keep track of all of your “swears” each day (on your phone, iou’s or whatever works.)
3. For each "swear", place $1 (or whatever feels fair) into the jar.
4. Let us know you're participating by sharing a photo or video with your challenge on facebook and instagram and tag @changingtidesfoundation & #plasticswearjar for your chance to be featured and win some of our eco-friendly goodies.
At the end of the 7 days, you have the option to donate the funds via our #plasticswearjar fundraiser, which will be used to benefit our environmental initiatives.
