K5 has taken the plunge.  The birth of KFive Paddlesurf Shop is solidifying it's place in history. With it's rich history in water sports and the brainchild concept of legendary retailer, Jurgen Schulz, it has made a statement that standup paddling is here to stay.

Jurgen's enthusiasm began when he started sweeping a little over a year ago.  “I was just stoked to be getting in the water everyday, getting a workout and having fun whether there were waves or not.  I could only assume that other people would feel the same way.” His Oceanside location turned out to be too small for their original surf, skate, snow format that the super tall ceilings and huge warehouse made a perfect fit for a full fledge SUP store.  Not only does the Oceanside location boast a 3000 square foot location solely dedicated to the new and growing sport/lifestyle, its location is near a beach, harbor and a lagoon which is a big plus.   They will carry boards ranging from C4 Waterman, Nectar, King's Paddle Sports, Surftech, Riviera, Channel Islands and Infinity, approximately 70 different styles of boards, from surf to race.  KFive be offering the best customer service and product selection as well as everything you need to experience the lifestyle, from clothing to sandals.

KFive will greet the SUP consumer with open arms Saturday, December 5th from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Shapers such as, Dave Daum,  Gary Macnabb,  & Ron House to name a few will be there for a meet and greet.  Everyone is invited!  Live music, free food and beer, why wouldn't you show up!  Riders along with others in the industry, vendor tents and demo's will assure each customer that they will have the knowledge to provide them with exactly what they are looking for with the belief that the very most important thing is to get people on the water, experiencing the sport.

“Obviously I see growth in the industry and I’m stoked to be part of it.” Jurgen shared. In April of 2008  K5 was one of 5 nominees for "Breakthrough Retailer of the Year. It was the third time in the last five years K5 has been an SIMA Image Award nominee, an honor Schulz says the chain earned "simply providing great customer service, developing great relationships with our vendors, and being involved on a grassroots level with our community. At the time Schulz stated, "I believe our biggest assets are working hard, not being afraid to change, and actually living the lifestyle."  K5 was also nominated in 2009 so don't be surprised if they are once again nominated in 2010.
