What'sup Maui as two of their own took top honors in the Olukai Maliko to Kanaha 8 mile race. Brazilian's Livio Menelau and Andrea Moellar stretched the field with 163 competitors on the line in east north-east winds blowing at a moderate 12 knots for the 11:35 am start.

From the get go it was a cat and mouse trade off with Menelau, California's Danny Ching and the favorite Dave Kalama staying together and away from the pack. With Ching in the lead for about half the race, Menelau was able to utilize local knowledge and find several surge bumps (swells) to take a lead he'd never slack off of. Ching, here for both the stand-up and OC-1 race was happy with his placing on a borrowed F16 Sandwich Isle Composite coming in about 75 yards behind the winner and followed by Dave Kalama another 50 yards back.

For Andrea Moellar, it was another dominant win and looks in-form for the Hawaii race season.
